These Apple Fritter Waffles combine the warm cinnamon flavor of a classic apple fritter with the crispy texture of homemade Belgian waffles. Topped with buttery cinnamon apples and finished with a sweet vanilla glaze, every bite is packed with cozy fall flavor. They’re perfect for weekend brunch, holiday mornings, or whenever you’re craving a bakery-style breakfast made right at home.

Ingredients

  • For the Apple Topping
  • 2 Honeycrisp apples, peeled and diced

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp nutmeg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

  • For the Waffles
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1¾ cups whole milk

  • ⅓ cup melted butter

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • For the Cinnamon Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼ tsp cinnamon

Directions

  • Heat the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt. Cook for 8–10 minutes until the apples are tender and coated in a thick caramel sauce. Set aside.
  • Preheat your waffle iron. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined.
  • Grease the waffle iron lightly. Cook the batter according to your waffle maker’s directions until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.
  • Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth.
  • Stack two waffles on a serving plate. Spoon the warm cinnamon apples generously over the waffles. Drizzle with the cinnamon glaze. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, sprinkle chopped toasted pecans over the top.
  • Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent brunch dessert.
